Purpose: The aim of the Sociology
Department program is to educate Sociologists who are equipped with knowledge,
skills and attitudes in sociological sense, who can be found in the social
analyzes needed in our society, who can represent the sociological formation of
our country in international relations, who appreciate universal ethical values
and are integrated with the values of our country and who are trying to
identify and solve the region, the country and the international problems.

Description
of Program:The Department of Sociology at Siirt University is one of the oldest
departments of the university founded in 2007.
Department of Sociology has started education and training
activitieswith 40 students for the 2013-2014 academic years.In the sociology
department, which will give its first graduates in 2017, the graduate program
is not active due to lack of academic staff.The department consists of four
sciences including General Sociology, Sociology of Institutions, Sociometry
(Social Structure and Change) and Applied Sociology in its own scheme.The
department currently has about 200 students.The department has 2 assistant
professor, 2 lecturers and 5 research assistants in its own staff.
Admission
and Registration Requirements:
Graduation
Requirements: To graduate from the registered
program, a student must succeed the courses prescribed for graduation, complete
the practices like internship successfully and his/her weighted grade point
average must be at least 2.00.
Principles
of Assessment and Evaluation:The success of the student in a course is determined after
the final / make up exam by the instructor responsible for that course, taking
into consideration that the 40 per cent of intermediate exam / exams and the 60
per cent of final / make up exam and the grade average is converted to letter
grade. (2)In order to be successful in a course, the letter grades that the
student received must be at least CC.

the philosophy group after receiving graduation and pedagogical formation,

counselors in private and public institutions by obtaining Family Counseling
certificate after graduation,

departmental courses in private education institutions,
ü can work as a guide
teacher in private education institutions together with the guidance

Degree Programs:Provided that the candidates having completed the undergraduate degree
successfully take valid grade from ALES exam and have adequate knowledge of
foreign languages except for their own field, may study in a post-graduation
program in their own field or related fields.
